Details: Purchased from a friend and original owner in 1988 with 42k now it has 70k miles. Car has never been driven in the rain, no bs, and many things have recently been done all at once. About 5 yrs ago cooling fans stopped working and before it was noticed the car overheated resulting in a blown head gasket, so I parked car in garage, covered it up because it never has been a daily driver, just an occasional adrenaline rush, its a collectible, and the biggie.... I knew it was gonna be expensive. So about this time last year I decided to have the car repaired thinking when it was parked all that was wrong was head gasket. Allowing a car to sit is foolish as I have learned, so many other things had to be replaced. From the rear of the car things that are new or have been done: fuel pump, fuel filter, computer, ecu relay, both crankshaft sensors, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, head gasket, water pump, thermostat, timing belts(2), valve job and resurfacing of the head, radiator, tune up and of course oil and filters, as well as all external belts and hoses. Almost forgot the fan relay that stopped the cooling fans creating all this was replaced, along with all bulbs and fuses. Mechanically as sound as they come. Interior color black and is like new except for the notorious small cracks in dash. Seems as if this cracking occurs in most all 944s, even garaged ones. Exterior is original paint and its 28 yrs old....I think it looks pretty dang good if you keep it waxed. The body is absolutely solid, no rust and no bondo needed to prep if you wanted to have it repainted. Sure it would look better but as a collectible, I think original is unique and worth more to the collector community. Brake inspection revealed virtually no wear and btw these 4 wheel discs will stop on a dime. This car is a blast to drive and handles like very few others including anything on the road today. With anti sway bars and other German Engineering this car was way ahead of its time. In fact the 1984 Porsche 944 was car the number one handling production car in the U.S. according to Car and Driver Magazine. Google it as I have been told my kids. Has that glued to the road feel and when you close the door you know youre not sitting in some Jap trap...your ears feel the pressure. The balance of total vehicle weight is 51 to 49 percent, front to rear. 5 speed manual and a torque filled 2.5 liter 4 cyl., fuel injected engine with the harmonics of something much larger delivering all the power needed to have you finding a hard time staying off those backroads with all the twists, turns and shifts. As a much younger man I loved them too but that time is past and with it so goes the car. I loved them so much that in 1990 with around 50k miles they cost me a new clutch. Another major item you shouldnt have any worries about for I assure you that expense stopped me from leaning on the clutch. No need in allowing the same thing to happen by just letting a car sit garaged again although started most every day. Since all the work Ive put around 2k and everthing is just like it should be. AC does not work. Shes still a head turner no doubt....just drive by people and look in the rear view....ahhh thats kinda vain but I must admit...well you know. So Ive told you much about the vehicle and why my offer to sale. Id just like to have the money to possibly buy something that I would use a little more...possibly a boat. Anyway this is not a fire sale or something I have to do but more than happy to entertain any reasonable offer or possible trade for something like a boat, pontoon or late model dirt bike. Details: I have for sale a 1984 Porsche 944. It was prepped for Autocross when we bought it and has since had a soft life of retirement. It was prepped by Autometrics in charleston. It was a winning car in SCCA´s STX class until 2006 when all Porsches were outlawed from that class. That is why the previous owner sold it, to build a new car for a new class. In the 6 years that I´ve owned it it has gotten new bushings, regular maintenance, a new trans from an ´87, and a full rebuild on the engine (done by European Road and Racing). It has another 13k before needing a new timing belt. Has 109,XXX miles on the body. Full documentation dating back to the early 1990´s in filed and sorted folders, from every modification to each oil change. Oil was changed on march 9th 2012, all 5.8 quarts of Mobil 1 full synthetic 10w-30. Still fresh Ground Control coilovers, camber/caster/toe plates, and sway bars. Racing Dynamic front strut tower brace. Grey-Krause harness bar. Simpson harness, mfg date 2001. 993 trailing arm conversion. 993 Cup 2 staggered wheels(17x7 front, 17x9 rear). MOMO shift knob, kick panels, pedals, and Formula 1 concept steering wheel. A3 racing reclinable bucket seats. Pioneer head unit, all 4 speakers work and sound great. Sunroof and windows move without any hitches. Has a cone air filter, and intake spacer. Long tube header, straight pipe, to stock turbo 944 muffler. Sounds good when on throttle, but doesn´t drone. Fibrewerks front bumper, whale tail rear spoiler with rear wiper delete.All around it is a very fun street car. It could make an out of this world CSP car with the right setup, but doesn´t fit my driving style and I don´t want to roll fenders and change out A-arms and things to set it up for me, so I´m starting with a new platform. If you haven´t driven a Porsche Boxster convertible, I suggest that you do. Once you do, you´ll want to buy one. If you have researched them, you´ll know all the standard features. I´ll just tell you about what makes this one different. For me, the most important option was the power seats. I have back problems and having fully adjustable seats makes a huge difference when driving. I mention this because very few Boxsters have power seats. Since then, it has had new front brakes, new back brakes, new battery, new water pump, new belts, coolant system flushed and refilled. I also replaced the mirrors in the sun visors. The original ones have bright yellow warning labels on top that are viewable when the top is down which doesn´t look so good on a black convertible! The car is always garaged and needs nothing. Details: Has lots of new parts but, needs work. New starter, fuel pump, ballast resistor, fuel-distributer inlet union, overhead oil rail, new gaskets(top end), head shaved 60 thousandths, new valve seals, 3 angle valve job, new head bolts, timing belt, sparkplugs, and wires. Black Leather Seats, Removable Top. Will run, but misses under a load. I haven´t started it in a while. I think with a new fuel distributor and distributor it will run good. The shaft in the fuel distributor sticks causing flooding, and the electronic distributor itself has 2 different size springs attached the the weights. I have heard that you can secure the weights so that they don´t move and it will work just fine. I have not tried. You also may be able to work with the fuel disributor and get the shaft to not stick. This Porsche was given to me by my father and shipped from California. I would not be selling, but i have other projects that i need to work on. She needs a good home.
