The 944 Turbo S had a more powerful engine (designation number M44/52) with 247 hp (compared to the standard 944 Turbo´s 217 hp) and 350 Nm torque (or 258 ft·lbf, versus 243 ft·lbf). This higher output was achieved by using a larger turbo housing on the exhaust side, and a remapped engine computer. In June 1988, Car and Driver tested the 944 Turbo S and achieved a 0-60 mph time of 5.5 seconds and a quarter mile time of 13.9 seconds at 101 mph (163 km/h). The intake manifold features an additional vacuum port for two total vacuum ports, but intake manifolds can be swapped between S and non-S cars.The 944 Turbo S´s suspension was the then state-of-the-art ´M030´ option consisting of upgraded Koni adjustable shocks front and rear, ride height adjusting threaded collars on the front struts, progressive springs, larger rear torsion bars, harder bushings throughout, larger 26.8 mm (1.1 in) anti-roll bars at the front, and chassis stiffening brackets in the front frame rails. The air conditioning dryer lines are routed differently to clear the front frame brace on the drivers side. The 944 Turbo S wheels, known as the Club Sport design, were 16´ forged and flat-dished, similar to the contemporary 928. Wheel widths were 7.5 inches (191 mm) in the front, and 9 inches (229 mm) in the rear; sizes of the Z-rated tires were 225/50 in the front and 245/45 in the rear. The front and rear wing edges were rolled to accommodate the larger wheels. The manual transmission (case code designation: AOR) of the 944 Turbo S had toughened first and second gears including synchros, standard external cooler (available on earlier turbos as an option, except 1985-1986 models, where it was also standard), and a standard limited slip differential with a 40% lockup setting. The Turbo S front brakes were borrowed from the Porsche 928 S4, with larger 4 piston fixed calipers and discs; ABS was also standard.The 944 Turbo S interior featured full power seats for both driver and passenger, where the majority of the factory-built Turbo S models sported a ´Burgundy plaid´ (Silver Rose edition) but other interior/exterior colors were available. The car on high boost runs at 22psi so should be way over 700 maybe mid to upper 700´s. I dont have an exact number because ive never put the car on high boost. Details: I have here a rare 924S 5 -speed manual, only made by Porsche for 2 years (87 & 88). It combined the small, aerodynamic body of the 924 with the engine & transmission of the 944. A 944 is essentially a 924S with fender flares and a different dash board. Mine has 140,000 on the odometer, which IS still working. Many new parts and work done such as new power steering pump, front brakes, rear tires, new seals in engine (at which time they told me that it looked as if the timing belt & water pump had been redone recently), and a new exhaust manifold + rear muffler and exhaust back to the cat...all real Porsche parts, no aftermarket BS. Car has original Porsche ´phone dial´ rims. As for faults, it has a few....headliner is perfect but seats have tears, carpet is dirty...it has a great CD player but recently the sound cut out and only works on one speaker (loose wiring I am sure), it needs an A/C recharge, and recently the headlights stopped working. So all in all...this is a great car that is more than a project, but does need a couple of things. Engine, transmission and clutch are excellent. Car handles like it is on rails. Perfect 50/50 weight distribution due to front engine / rear mounted transmission design. Paint is decent... some areas started to look faded, but I have begun to buff it out and it is looking great again. She has a few dings here and there. Galvanized body, so IT WILL NEVER RUST.I am also interested in trading for a running Automatic car or truck as well....let me know what you´ve got! Details: I´m selling a ´68 912 original sunroof coupe in pretty rough shape. needs lots of rust repair on the floors and rockers. it has a new front pan where the suspension mounts. car is not 100% complete but most of the stuff is there. take a good look at the pics so you are sure of what is for sale. what you see is what you get. the car was painted silver (poorly) just to protect it from further oxidation but is by no means a finished paint job. all glass is intact but windshield has crack. rear window needs new seal and is just resting in place. both door windows roll up/down and vent windows work fine. There is no motor or transmission included. I have a parts motor for $750 and trans from 1965 911 for another $1000NOW - i am waiting to get a new title. i was given the title from previous owner but it is signed in the wrong places. he has asked the people he bought it from to please go get a duplicate and i still do not have that but am being told that it´s in the works. but i do have the original title in my possession it´s just signed in the wrong places. worst case scenario is you can get a title from one of these title companies out of maine.http://s1117.photobucket.com/albums/k600/drola/1968%20912%20Silver/thanks for lookingcall or text 7864121172 Location: Miamiit´s NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
